New film: from Balfour to Banksy: Visions and Divisions in Palestine

This documentary is about the legacy of the Balfour Declaration of 1917.  It ushered in the creation of Israel, but had another, disastrous impact: the dispossession of the Palestinian people.  The film presents a wide range of views from occupied Palestine and Israel today, ranging from anger to attempts to define visions for a future.  It also presents the contemporary artist Banksy, who has produced a remarkable piece of satirical art in the form of the “WalledOff Hotel” in Bethlehem.

The film is Directed by Martin Buckley and produced by our own Miranda Pinch. You can find their website here.

The film is still being edited and will achieve its final cut in a couple of weeks.  Martin and Miranda have had 3 previews that have been invaluable in allowing them to learn and adjust the content, but unfortunately a pro-Israeli mob disrupted one of the showings, as you can see here.

Miranda says there will be plenty more screenings, and they will be taking it round the country next year.  They already have a number of invitations, and “are open to invitations from anywhere!”

They need some additional funding and you can contribute through their crowdfunding site: https://www.gofundme.com/y58ktx-campaign
