More than 90 Palestinians killed by Israel this year

Israeli occupation forces shot and critically wounded a Palestinian man in the northern West Bank village of Huwwara on Wednesday.

An army spokesperson claimed that the man, identified by the Palestine Red Crescent Society as 32-year-old Muhammad Amr from the city of Tulkarm, had attempted to stab a soldier, who “responded to the immediate threat with live fire.”

An eyewitness told the Ma’an News Agency that he saw Amr “attempting to cross the road in Huwwara before being shot at by an Israeli soldier who then took out a knife and threw it next to the youth.”

Video from the scene appears to show Amr lying on the ground as Israeli soldiers roam around him but don’t provide first aid. After several minutes an ambulance arrives at the scene

Israeli media reported that no soldiers were injured during the incident, and that the wounded Palestinian was evacuated to a hospital.

Palestinian killed near settlement

Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man near Ofra settlement in the central West Bank last Thursday.

The army claimed that the man, identified by the Palestinian health ministry as Maen Nasser al-Din Abu Qaraa, 23, from the nearby village of al-Mazraa al-Qibliya, had attempted to stab an Israeli soldier with a knife.

No soldiers were reported injured.

Eyewitnesses told the Ma’an News Agency that Israeli forces prevented Palestinian medics from accessing Abu Qaraa to provide first aid and did not administer any medical treatment, “leaving him to bleed to death.”

Since the beginning of the year, 72 Palestinians, including 20 children, and 16 Israelis have been killed during attacks and suspected attacks. More than 90 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces so far this year.

Died decades after injury

This month two Palestinians died of injuries inflicted Previewby Israeli occupation forces years earlier.

Raed Fuad Hijjeh, 38, died on 4 November from injuries sustained during an army raid in the northern West Bank city of Nablus in 2002.

A Palestinian official told the Ma’an News Agency that Hijjeh “had been hit with bullet shrapnel in the arm and head, in addition to suffering from severe tear gas inhalation.”

“Hijjeh, who was just 24 at the time he was injured, was a former member of [the] Palestinian security forces and a resident of the Nablus-area village of Burqa,” Ma’an added.

“Following his injuries, Hijjeh had permanently lost his ability to walk, talk or move, and was constantly undergoing treatment in hospitals for more than a decade.”

On Wednesday, Ahmad Elayyan Zayid, 44, from Jalazone refugee camp near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, died from injuries from a rubber-coated steel bullet that left him partly paralyzed in 1990.

“Israeli forces shot Zayid from point blank range as he was leaving a mosque during clashes in the refugee camp,” Ma’an reported. “The bullet settled in his brain, causing him to become partially paralyzed and lose the ability to speak.”

The agency added that Zayid “had been receiving treatment before his health condition rapidly deteriorated. He was pronounced dead in a Ramallah-area hospital.”

A photo of Zayid circulated on social media after his death
